Mogadishu, 06 July 2025 – The Director General of the Ministry of Information of the Northeastern State of Somalia, Mr. Abdurahman Yusuf Abdihafid, participated in the National Consultative Meeting on the Policy for Managing the Risks of Misuse of Social Media.
The two-day meeting was attended by Directors General of the Ministries of Information from the Federal Member States, SSC-Khaatumo, and the Benadir Region; heads of media offices of the Federal Government; representatives from independent media; the Independent Media Council; and prominent social media influencers.
The Director General of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mr. Abdillahi Hayir Ducaale, who delivered the opening remarks, briefly explained the objectives of the meeting and emphasized the importance of establishing a unified policy to address the risks associated with the misuse of social media.
The Minister of Information, Mr. Daud Aweys Jama, urged the participants to use the meeting as an opportunity to build a policy framework that ensures social media is used in ways that benefit society and helps prevent harmful content such as extremism, disinformation, and misinformation.
